So I am 'this' close to being done with three major projects.
I made Jason a vest out of eastern dragon print fabric and lined it with silk. Then I had to tailor it to fit him properly. That was a pain but I guess I'll just have to get used to it. He is a tall, broad shouldered guy and I am a tiny little thing so for now pretty much whatever I make will have to be tailored quite a bit. It would be done but I can't figure out how to get the ancient (albeit really nifty) sewing machine my mother-in-law gave me to do button holes. My other sewing machine isn't sewing properly at the moment and even if it was I can't find the attachments any where, naturally. When I don't need them they were constantly in the way but now? Poof, gone. I'll probably end up doing the button holes by hand, yuck. I'm going to try to find some gold or black dragon buttons to use since the colors in the vest are yellow, black, and red.
In my favorites is a cross stitched pillow of Fuu from the anime Rayearth. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it! So I searched for some anime cross stitch patterns. I found some from Sailor Moon. It was before Christmas so I decided to use the pattern for Sailor Jupiter and create a similar pillow for my friend Chella because Jupiter is her favorite scout. Well, Jupiter ended up quite a bit bigger than Fuu. It was 200 x 300 squares big! Add to that the green edging and the trim? It is nearly as big as a regular pillow if not bigger! I can't wait to finish it so I can post pictures!!! However I am stuck waiting for Hobby Lobby to get in more trim. I was a dumb ass when I measured and am about 6 inches short of having enough! ARG! So here I sit, waiting.
Years ago I bought a cape pattern, some dark green satin like fabric (should have just bought the satin, doh!), some black velvet, and started making myself a cape. I altered the pattern to make it reversible but I think I like the black on the outside best. Anyway, when I originally sewed the pieces together I followed the instructions which made it about 10 sizes to big, lol. I tried it on and was swallowed and got frustrated because it was a lot of work. I put that project aside until yesterday. I took the hood off the top ungathered its bottom and then ungathered the top of the bottom of the cape. Next I redid the gather stitches and this time figured out how much it would have to be gathered for it to fit me properly. Then I sewed it all back together. It fit beautifully when I tried it on!
I was so excited! However now the hood doesn't lay properly when I pull it up. I have no idea how to fix it either. It looks fine if I take the time to arrange it properly but then I'm afraid to move for fear that it will shift and look funny or fall off my head. I would post pictures but now that it is sewn together I plan on doing either some bead work or embroidery work on it. I can't decided and would love some advice or the opinions of others.
For now I'm going to go back to waiting. I'm waiting on that trim and the wire I ordered for my friend Lamb's new necklace I am making for him. I can't wait for the wire to get here! I have already cut out the black rings and just need the yellow. For being as patient as I normally am with stuff I am not feeling patient right now at all. It is really strange, lol.
